I Can’t Belize It!!

After spending 10 1/2 hours in the Atlanta airport, taking an hour long flight to Orlando, a 9 1/2 hour layover in Orlando, a 45 minute flight to Miami, a 2 hour layover in Miami, and one last flight of an hour and 45 minutes… we FINALLY made it to Belize!!! After arriving in Belize and making our way through customs, our six teams that make up our squad divided up to head off to our various ministry destinations throughout Belize.

My team, made up of Summer Conneen, Emjay LohnesHannah BuschRé Hollingsworth, and myself, have safely arrived at our ministry location in Belmopan, Belize. This month we have the opportunity to serve at Legacy Youth Movement, which is an interdenominational Christian youth training organization that was started in 2004 under YWAM and is run and operated by a network of youth leaders from various churches in Belize. We currently find ourselves staying on a YWAM base and to be honest as I look outside this morning to chickens running around and hear the rustling of the wind through the thick trees, I could not be more thankful for where God has placed us. I can already tell this month is going to be incredible!

Fun fact, this is actually the FIRST time Adventures in Missions (The World Race) has ever had the opportunity to partner with Legacy Youth Movement and we are truly so excited to see where this partnership will lead both us within this month and future World Race teams serving within Belize!

My team and I have the opportunity to work with conference admin personnels to assist them in the preparation needed for their upcoming, November conference. A lot of the work that we get to do is office and media based. This includes but is not limited to registering names that come in for the upcoming conference, praying over each of the youth by name, preparing activities and games that will be used during the conference, managing Legacy Youth Movement’s social media page, developing marketing material for Legacy, etc.

While in Belize the five of us also have the opportunity to work with a non-profit children’s home called Marla’s House of Hope. Marla’s House of Hope strives to provide safe, loving, nurturing care for God’s children who have been removed from an abusive environment. We are so excited for this opportunity and to begin working with the kids and teens who call Marla’s their home.

Today we will receive a tour of the grounds where we are staying and we also have the opportunity to sit in on seminars facilitated by various members of the Legacy and YWAM staffs. Two of my teammates and I are hanging out in the kitchen now, eager to begin our days and see all that God has planned for us! Please keep the five of us in your prayers, as well as the other five teams that make up our squad dispersed all throughout Belize.
