Guys we have made it to day 20 of our month-long blogging challenge, can you believe it?!! This means that there are only 10 days left and that is so crazy to think about!! To those of you who have been around since the beginning and read through my previous posts, you are a rockstar and I send a giant “THANK YOU” from the bottom of my heart your way. Today’s post is #6 in my country series and talks all about where my squad and I will be serving for the month of March. It’s… ALBANIA!!

 

GEOGRAPHY & POPULATION:

Albania is a country in Southeastern Europe with a population of 2.876 Million people.

LANGUAGE:

Albanian is the official language of the Republic of Albania. Other languages spoken by minorities in Albania include Aromanian, Serbian, Macedonian, Bosnian, Bulgarian, Gorani, and Roma.  

RELIGION:

Albania is a secular state without an official religion. However, according to the latest census taken these were the statistics gathered: Muslim– 58.79%, Christian– 16.92%, Atheist– 2.5%, “No Religion/Non Affiliated“- 5.49%

LIFE EXPECTANCY:

Male- 74.3, Female- 78.6, Total Life Expectancy- 76.4 

FOOD:

 Albanian cuisine is a representative of the cuisine of the Mediterranean. It is also an example of the Mediterranean diet based on the importance of olive oil, fruits, vegetables, and fish. Some staples of Albanian cuisine include fëgesë, tavë kosi, perime në scarë, and chocolate delight.  

FUN FACTS:

*Albania is the world’s largest hydroelectricity producer, 100% of the country’s energy is hydroelectric. 

*The Albanian language is one of the three surviving Indo-European languages besides Armenian and Greek.

*Mother Teresa is the country’s national heroine, she is also the only Nobel laureate from Albania.  

PRAYER POINTS:

*PRAY for spiritual maturity in Christians who come from long history of communism, atheism, or Islam.

*PRAY for Christians to seize opportunities available through religious freedom by ministering to Muslims.

*PRAY for more workers to train nationals to effectively proclaim the Gospel to their country. 

*PRAY for more scripture translations throughout Albania; PRAY for accuracy, timely completion, and for widespread use of the scriptures.
